Horseshoe Heights P.S. May 2026 Newsletter

Principal’s Message

As we step into May, it’s hard to believe we are already entering the final stretch of our very first year as Horseshoe Heights Public School. What an incredible journey it has been so far, and this past month has been no exception!

Our school community came together for a meaningful Earth Day, participating in a fullschool cleanup and a variety of activities focused on caring for our environment. It was wonderful to see students taking pride in our school and community grounds and learning about the impact small actions can have on our planet.

Our Choirs and Glee Club have also been hard at work preparing for our upcoming Grand Opening. Their dedication and enthusiasm shine through every rehearsal, and we cannot wait for our community to experience their performances. Athletics have been in full swing as well. Our Junior Boys and Girls Basketball teams wrapped up a busy and exciting season—thank you to our coaches for their time, energy, and encouragement. Our Coed Volleyball team has also been running strong, and our Rugby season is now underway. In addition, our intramural sports continue to offer students fun, active opportunities during the school day. We are proud of the teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit our Trailblazers continue to show.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming families and guests to our Grand Opening on Thursday, May 7th, a milestone moment for our school community. Following the Grand Opening Ceremony, we will be hosting our Arts Night, where student work will be on display and our Grades 5–8 classes will share musical presentations that highlight their talents.

Looking ahead, please be sure to mark your calendars for our Spring BBQ on June 4th. It promises to be another wonderful community event as we celebrate the year together.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Horseshoe Heights is truly a special place because of the students, staff, and families who bring it to life each day.

School Council Update

Please see the attached Spring Update for school council news. Our next meeting is Monday May 4th at 6:30 pm. Feel free to join us!

Parking Reminders

Please see the attached diagram regarding our parking lot procedures. A reminder that there are no left turns from the school parking lot onto Horseshoe Valley Road. As well, please review the areas for parking if you are picking up or dropping off students (either in our parking lot or in the short term parking area along the driveway coming in from Line 4). Finally, please ensure you are cautious when driving through the lot as we have students and families crossing the parking lot to get to vehicles as well as to access Horseshoe Valley Memorial Park.  Parking Lot Procedures Diagram

Class Placements for September

Please be aware that a great deal of time and effort are spent in organizing class placements for the following year.  There are many variables that are considered in the process. If there are unusual circumstances for which you wish to make a request for class placement, please put your request and reasons in writing to  [email protected] or to Mrs. Wright-Drzazga or Mrs. Prentice. Requests will be considered but we cannot guarantee that such requests will be granted as there are many factors to consider.
